BACKGROUND
Ponderosa Pine is grown in the dryer areas of New Zealand and we source our material from a forestry block at Naseby at 2,000 feet above sea level. But the resource is small and the species is not being replanted so we harvest wilding trees. Anticipating this issue, four years ago we planted five hectares on a farm at Tuapeka West and we are now starting to harvest this beautiful oil from this location. TO harvest we are prune the trees and chip the branches as the oil is best obtained from a mix of needles and wood.
FRAGRANCE
A herbaceous smell with pine then a lingering smell of anise.
USES
Ponderosa Pine oil is very potent and goes well in balms, creams and other skin applications.
Valued for its effect upon the respiratory system. It is used to treat various lung and chest ailments, which makes a good oil for use in a diffuser.
