BACKGROUND
Shining Gum is a forest tree grown for its wood pulp value. Most is sent to Japan as pulp fibre as it's very clean and white.
We did some testing and found the oil was not as strong as other eucalyptus oils but still had about 48% 1,8-CINEOLE. We sourced it from Otago and Southland.
FRAGRANCE
Shining Gum is part of the mint family so there is definitely a healthy dose of mint for the olfactory glands complemented by woody and citrus tones. The combination is delicious.
USES
Respiratory conditions such as asthma and sinusitis may be helped by inhaling steam with added eucalyptus oil. The oil reacts with mucous membranes, not only reducing mucus but helping loosen it so it can be expelled.
Eucalyptus has “broad-spectrum antimicrobial action". Great in a diffuser on those sniffly days.
